Psilomethoxin

Psilomethoxin (4-HO-5-MeO-DMT) is a fusion of Psilocybin and 5-MeO-DMT, combining the characteristics of both compounds. Although not found naturally in the environment, Psilomethoxin can be produced by modifying “magic mushrooms” using a unique method. First, during the cultivation process, after the inoculation stage but before the mushrooms start to fruit, 5-MeO-DMT is added to the growing medium. Then, as the mushrooms grow and develop, they incorporate the 5-MeO-DMT into their structure, ultimately resulting in Psilomethoxin containing fruiting bodies instead of Psilocybin or psilocin.

Although it shares some structural similarities with well-known psychedelics such as psilocybin and 5-MeO-DMT, Psilomethoxin is distinct in its own right. It is believed to exert its effects primarily through activating serotonin receptors, specifically the 5-HT2A subtype, which alters perception, cognition, and mood. While research on Psilomethoxin is still in its infancy, preliminary studies suggest potential therapeutic applications in mental health disorders such as depression, anxiety, and PTSD.
